Rachel In the Office

After graduating from Truman State University with a Visual Communication BFA, I found my way back to St. Louis with an internship and subsequent position at Brighton Agency as an Art Director. While at an agency the past 4+ years, I was constantly juggling timelines, collaborating with a cross-functional team, and leading creative strategy from project kickoff to delivery. Although I love St. Louis, I moved to the Phoenix area in the fall of 2021! Now, I’m with Carvana’s in-house agency as a Senior Graphic Designer and I’m looking forward to continue growing here.

I have worked on a variety of projects, including traditional print design; point of sale and shopper marketing collateral; consumer journey mapping; social content strategy and design; ecomm and digital design—the list goes on! Though my background is primarily in CPG — specifically pet food brands — I also have experience in life-sciences, healthcare, agriculture, and now the auto industry. In my current role I play a big part in developing the look and feel for Carvana’s various partnerships.

I'm drawn to design that provides new ways of seeing things, tells a story, and connects communities. In my design process, I employ principles from Design Thinking and enjoy collaborating with a team to problem solve. I’m constantly asking “Why?” and “What is the problem we are trying to solve?” until I get to the root of the issue. I seek constant feedback to ensure that I deliver work that is on-brief, on-brand, and creatively solves the business problem with the end user in mind.

Outside of my day-to-day work, I’m passionate about providing mentorship and guidance to those more “green” than I am. For several years, I was an AIGA St. Louis board member helping coordinate multiple student-focused events, such as regional Student Conferences and local Portfolio Bootcamps. I worked with student designers and acted as Creative Director, reviewing work and helping establish a conceptual direction. I also led the Intern Program at Brighton for three years.

In my free time, I love exploring local restaurants, listening to every podcast that has ever existed (I am obsessed with Morbid & Hidden Brain), collecting hot sauces, playing pickleball and creating architectural illustrations.
